Experience the True Spirit of Kintsugi — Workshop at kintsugi nook
In recent years, kintsugi classes and workshops have become more common across Japan—especially in Tokyo and Kyoto—yet most are aimed at local participants who can attend multiple sessions.
At the same time, as international visitors show growing interest in Japanese craft, short-term workshops for travelers have begun to appear. Many of these, however, use glue or synthetic materials and do not offer hands-on experience with authentic urushi-based techniques.
At kintsugi nook, we believe short-term visitors should still be able to experience the depth and beauty of true kintsugi. For this reason, we offer two workshop formats tailored to different interests and timeframes.
Both workshops are offered in English and/or Japanese, and we provide careful guidance so both travelers and local participants can authentically engage with kintsugi. Please contact us in advance regarding special requests or bringing your own piece.
At the end of the session, you’ll take home not just a beautiful piece of art, but also the spirit of kintsugi - a reflection of sustainability, resilience, and quiet beauty that lives on through imperfection.

金継ぎの本質にふれる体験 — kintsugi nook ワークショップ
近年、東京や京都を中心に、日本各地で金継ぎ教室が増えてきました。しかし、多くは何度も通える地元の方向けに設計されています。
一方で、日本の伝統工芸への関心が高まるにつれ、旅行者向けの短時間ワークショップも見られるようになりました。ところが、その多くは本漆ではなく、接着剤や合成素材を使用した“簡易体験”であり、伝統的な金継ぎの工程に触れられないことも少なくありません。
kintsugi nook では、短期滞在の旅行者であっても、本来の金継ぎが持つ深さと美しさを体験できるべきだと考えています。
そのため、興味や滞在スケジュールに合わせて選べる 2種類のワークショップ をご用意しています。
すべてのワークショップは 英語・日本語の両対応。旅行者の方から地元の方まで、どなたも安心して参加いただけるよう丁寧にサポートいたします。特別なご希望や、お手持ちの器を使用したい場合は、事前にお問い合わせください。
ワークショップの最後には、美しい仕上がりの作品とともに、「壊れても価値が生まれる」という金継ぎの精神—サステナビリティ、レジリエンス、そして静かな美しさ—を持ち帰っていただけます。
